Learn from Home
All courses use our highly interactive and innovative software system.
Clinical (hands-on) training is done in the student's home community. Midwifery students are placed with an approved preceptor, or in one of our many affiliated clinical sites.
Hands-on experience is integrated with academics. Lactation students
may get clinical experience at their local hospitals, WIC, or health
departments.
Learn with Others
Aviva Institute provides a high degree of peer interaction and support.
All courses are faculty led, students are not expected to learn on
their own. Our students come from all over the globe and create an
incredibly rich and diverse learning community. We promote learner
involvement though the use of constructivism, the belief that people actively construct new knowledge as they interact with their environments.
Learn from the Best
Not limited by geography, we have extraordinary faculty
from all over the world. The wide range of backgrounds and philosophies
allows students a broad base of knowledge, wisdom, and experience from
which to learn. Our staff has over 30 years experience in related education, as well as serving on national certification and accreditation boards.
Our programs:
- Are Flexible and Family Friendly
- Embrace Holistic Philosophy
- Promote Learner Involvement
- Provide a High Level of Support
- Utilize a Highly Interactive Learning Environment
- Support the Midwives Model of Care
At
Aviva Institute, we are passionate about birth, optimal health, and
natural healing. Aviva means Life. We teach the essential components –

What do students say about Aviva Institute...
We
get the feedback, wisdom, and experience from phenomenal instructors
and also the very valuable feedback from one another, sharing ideas,
tips, knowledge. We all learn from each other. Everyone has something
to bring to the "table."
-D.S. 1st Year midwifery student
As
a woman with many years of schooling, I can safely say that the Aviva
Institute far exceeds any expectations I have ever had about distance
learning. Not only are the instructors intellectually amazing and the
curriculum thoughtfully challenging, but the peer to peer interactions
are beyond inspiring. Aviva Institute allows for busy women and mothers
such as myself to accomplish their dreams without sacrificing the rigor
of a traditional university. I am so very proud to be a student of
midwifery and to carry the name of Aviva at my side.

B. H. 2nd Year midwifery student
I
knew that I would learn a great deal during the 8 weeks of this class.
I knew that I would be receiving instruction that would both challenge
and encourage me to be a better instructor myself. Kathryn met all of
my expectations and more.
-G.T. Childbirth Educator student
This
was my first online class and I was so impressed. Tamy is amazing, I
learned so much in six weeks, there was a lot of reading, but the
discussions helped me understand it. I am so grateful to Aviva and
Tamy, I feel confident now being a doula.
-J.T. Birth Doula student
BEST
was fantastic, it was hands down the best CEU course I have ever taken
in my 25 years of being a Nurse-Midwife. I loved the online format, the
book is a gem. The online exercises really helped cement the knowledge,
and the sharing in the forum with all the other midwives was just
wonderful.
