When is does the program start?
The Midwifery Program will usually start in Fall Term. However, the first year we will start Winter Term to give students who have not met the prerequisites the time to get those in.
How many students do you accept a year?
At this time we are only accepting 20 students a year, and we do expect our slots to fill fast, so we encourage you to get your prerequisites in early. We may consider doing two groups of 15 each. However we do not do staggered groups for the midwifery program. All groups start in the Fall, except this first year which starts in winter.
Can I transfer my credits from another school to your program?
Yes, we will accept transfer credits from accredited two and four- year colleges, or from MEAC-accredited programs. If you have done extensive self study and apprenticeship, are an RN or have another medical background or are now a CPMs visit the Advanced Placement page for details. Previous birth and clinical experience can be counted if it was documented according to NARMs PEP process, or supervised by one of our approved preceptors and properly documented.
Do you accept International students?
Yes. However, we cannot guarantee that our program will meet your country's requirements. You are responsible for researching your countries requirements for transfer or foreign trained reciprocity. Our program is designed to prepare students for the CPM, a US based credential.
What are your admissions criteria?
We are looking for strong candidates who will complete the program and become practicing midwives. We value our group model and wish to find students who demonstrate self-direction and a high level of motivation. Student acceptance is determined by the Admission Committee, which is made up of faculty, staff, and, after the first year, students. While we consider academic achievement an important criteria, other qualities we value in midwifery students include leadership, sensitivity, compassion, caring, and passion about midwifery. Applicants are chosen based on their answers to the application questions, their reference letter(s), previous academic success, and their personal interview(s).
How do I apply for the midwifery program?
