HERB 0201 Introduction to Herbal Medicine
Course Description: Herbal medicine is the people's medicine. It is inexpensive, accessible and effective. The World Health Organization recognizes the contribution Traditional Medicine makes to the well-being of people around the world and recommends integrating TM/CAM into national health care systems. This class will provide a basic overview of the field of herbal therapeutics from a holistic perspective. It is a prerequisite for Herbal Medicine I.
It is highly recommended as a prerequisite for HLTH 1211 Herbs for Pregnancy and Birth for those with out previous experience in herbs.

HERB 202 Herbal Medicine for Maternal/Child Health
Course Description: Herbal Medicine with a focus on maternal/child health. Both HERB 0201 and HERB 202 can be taken instead of HERB 1211 Introduction to Herbs for Pregnancy and Birth for students who want to spend more in depth study. Also for students who want to take more time off in the summer, this course can be taken instead.

HLTH 0301 Introduction to Global Health
Course Description: The course will introduce students to the main concepts of the global health field: general principles and goals of global health; cross-cutting global health issues; the burden of disease; and, cooperating to improve global health. The course is recommended for community health students, midwives, and workers interested in working in settings of poverty and/or on major global health challenges such as HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, maternal/child health, and non-communicable disease.
