SPAN 4401 Basic Conversational Spanish
Basic Spanish needed for conversation, includes grammar, pronunciation, verb usage, use of numbers.
Fast-paced,
interactive and fun, this course is designed for beginners to learn the
basics yet be able to quickly catch on and be able to converse.
Includes podcasts,
cds, and other audio tools to help you learn. Regular Skype
conference calls are held to help you one-on-one with pronunciation.
This
course is a prerequisite for Spanish for Childbirth Professionals, and
meets four of the foreign language credits needed for the Bachelors of
Science degree.

SPAN 4302 Spanish for Birth Professionals
Spanish for working with pregnant and parenting families.
This course is for doulas, midwives, lactation specialists and anyone working with birthing families.
Can be taken as an extension to SPAN 401 or as a refresher course for those with a background in Spanish.
Regular Skype conference calls are held to help you one-on-one with pronunciation.
This course meets three of the foreign language credits needed for the Bachelors of Science degree.
RN CEUS. In
collaboration with United Nurses Seminars, provider approved by the
California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP11487 13.5
(13.5 contact hours) CEUs.
Prerequisite: SPAN 401 Basic Spanish or one year of recent high school Spanish or one semester of college Spanish.

Instructor
Regine Marton, MS, CNM, RN
holds a MS in Midwifery from SUNY Stony Brook NY. She was born in
France, knew about her passion about Midwifery and Reproductive Health
since she was about seven years of age. However, she chose another
path, adult learning, and started teaching French and English as a
second language for multinationals in France and Brazil.
She is trained as a doula, continues her training as a Watsu provider
and is a certified Aquanatal coach. She became progressively interested
in Global Health as well as religious anthropology linked to
health practices in various societies, and started networking with
midwives from various backgrounds, from France, Mexico and
Brazil. She is also partnering with several Brazilian NGO’s where she
teaches online for the Humanization Childbirth in Brazil. She
currently lives in Brazil, and has three children.
