Our standards include:
- Using the best practices in distance education with a commitment for continual education in the area of distance teaching modalities.
- Integrating clinical or hands-on skills at every opportunity.
- Assuring that clinical instructors meet the same high quality standards we set for academic faculty.
- Integrating the principles of constructivism and other teaching modalities that support learner involvement.
- Incorporating evaluations by staff, students, and faculty to give broader perspectives and to enhance the quality of each course.
- Integrating women’s ways of learning into instructional materials, to reduce gender biases as well as to promote less hierarchical and more empathic teaching.
- Promoting a high degree of interaction between faculty and students, amongst faculty, and amongst the students themselves.
- Implementing and maintaining good educational standards and practices as established by accreditation, certification or other regulatory bodies.
- For midwifery programs: providing the level of education and experience we would want the midwife who would deliver our own child or grandchild to have.
- Creating a learning and working environment that embraces diversity, supports creativity, strives towards excellence, and encompasses our philosophy and values.
